Two second-generation Fairbanksans, tired of watching good neighbors get lost in the shuffle.
Erica Holmberg and Daniel Yazzie grew up on the same block off Farmers Loop — children of teachers, pipefitters, and pipeline workers who had chosen interior Alaska decades earlier and stayed. By their late thirties, both had done the thing nobody in Fairbanks talks about openly: they had packed a U-Haul, crossed the Alaska Highway, and tried to build a life somewhere warmer.
Each came back. Not because the Lower 48 was wrong for them, but because they kept watching friends, aunts, uncles, and coworkers attempt the same move with the wrong help — a national relocation franchise that didn't understand a Permanent Fund Dividend timing question, a vehicle-shipping quote that ignored the 1,420 miles between Fairbanks and Dawson Creek, a real estate agent in Phoenix who'd never seen a Fairbanks foundation.

Our only office is on the second floor of a converted mercantile building on Cushman Street — two blocks from the Chena River, four from where the Goldstream ends and the city begins. Every Goodbye Fairbanks advisor works out of Suite 204. There is no Seattle branch, no Denver call center. When you book a Goodbye Session, the person on the phone is the person who drives to work past the same pipeline-view coffee shop you do.

Why we started Goodbye Fairbanks.
Goodbye Fairbanks began in 2017 because we were tired of watching our neighbors leave badly. A retired teacher from North Pole got quoted a six-month vehicle-ship window in July and a contractor in Ester lost a Permanent Fund collection he had been counting on, simply because nobody had walked him through the timing. Both moves were avoidable. Both families deserved better.
We started this firm to be the person on the phone who already knows that the Alcan is closed at MP 1200 in October, that the buyer for your three-bedroom in Goldstream is mostly Anchorage-based, and that the State of Alaska posts dividend eligibility on the same form it uses to verify your move-out date. We have made this move ourselves — twice, on average, between the two of us. We promise every Goodbye Fairbanks client the same thing we promised those first twelve families in the fall of 2017: a flat fee, a single point of contact, and an honest answer about what is and isn't possible.
